Homes by Brill is proud to announce that it has been selected as a new authorized Stratford Homes builder! This partnership allows us to bring Stratford’s economical housing concept to more families in Urbandale and the surrounding areas while ensuring the highest quality construction and management through each home build process.

This article belongs to the Construction Process Series

Stratford Homes has been providing exceptional quality custom modular homes since 1973. Their mission is to deliver quality and savings to each homebuilder by using construction efficiency. Each Stratford Home offers superior value, attractive styling, comfortable living space, and energy efficiency. The company has built nearly 11,000 customized modular buildings throughout the Midwest and parts of Canada, each one carefully crafted for its customers using the latest knowledge, methods, and materials. Stratford can also help you quickly and economically integrate a home addition onto your existing home, like adding a large master suite with all the amenities (tiled shower, soaking tub, double vanity, walk-in closets, etc.) or a “four seasons” room to expand your family’s living space.

How Does the Stratford Process Work?

You can choose from one of Stratford Homes’ 60 home floor plans, or you can modify any of the designs to create your ideal home. They use modern Auto-CAD engineering, and their professional design team will help you customize the ideal plans for your new home or addition. If you think that “modular” homes mean generic, cookie-cutter dwellings, think again: Stratford offers ranch and multi-level floor plans in styles ranging from Victorian-inspired homes to rustic-looking cabins.

Then, Stratford Homes “stick-builds” each structure in their Rathdrum, Idaho, manufacturing facility just like it would be constructed on your foundation. Each step of the manufacturing process is closely controlled under ideal indoor conditions. This allows them to avoid many problems of a conventional build, like weather issues and delays. Because of the company’s relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, Stratford is able to obtain superior fixtures, materials, and products at lower costs and pass on the savings.

During the building process, Stratford has both in-house and third-party inspectors perform rigorous testing to ensure the structure meets stringent building code requirements. Their products are worlds apart from the stereotypically flimsy and haphazard buildings many people think of as “modular” construction. Stratford’s homes are every bit as durable, safe, and structurally sound as traditional, fully on-site-built homes.

What Role Will Homes by Brill Play?

Once Stratford builds a modular home or addition, it is partially dissembled and shipped to its destination for installation. Maintaining a superior standard of quality for their products depends on selecting experienced general contractors for the installation sites who are capable of handling the construction project from start to finish. The general contractor is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire construction process, including coordinating the on-site aspects of the home building experience, such as permits, excavation, foundation, finish carpentry, HVAC, and garage construction.

“There are so many details involved with building a new home that we select and work with only experienced general contractors,” said Travis Willman, director of sales and marketing at Stratford Homes. “Not only is every customer unique, but so is every job site. The average home buyer needs a reputable and trustworthy general contractor to organize all the different aspects required to construct and finish their home. We feel that Homes By Brill LLC of Urbandale will provide that expertise and guide the home buyer through an enjoyable building experience. We are very excited to welcome Don Brill and his team to the Stratford Homes’ builder network. He is a man of great character and integrity in a great market.”

Homes by Brill will work with customers in the Des Moines, Iowa, area to find land, arrange financing, and customize their new Stratford home. When Stratford completes the manufacturing process, Homes by Brill will coordinate and manage the installation process from permits to punch list. This ensures that each Stratford home will be built with the highest level of quality at an affordable price.
